Balloon Rides in Pamukkale

Pamukkale Turkey is a fascinating place for wandering. As you approach the town, a cliff of white will appear. On foot, you can climb the naturally formed travertines and crystal clear pools where you can wade in and take fantastic photos. You will keep walking until you reach the very top of the hill, following the path until you reach the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis.

Once you do this on foot, why not see the same route from the sky? The hot air balloon flights depart early in the morning. For the best view of the “Cotton Castle” (a natural and unique marvel), come and fly with us on a hot air balloon!

History of Pamukkale

Due to the healing properties of the thermal waters, civilizations have resided in and visited the area since 1900 BC. In 190 BC, the people of Pergamum came to Pamukkale and constructed the ancient city of Hierapolis. Hierapolis became a spa retreat that was frequented by the Greeks and later became a part of the Roman Empire. Hierapolis became a thriving city until around 1300 when it was mostly abandoned. In 1534 an earthquake devastated the area and Pamukkale and Hierapolis were mostly forgotten until they were discovered again during archaeological digs in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

In order to protect the area from recent influxes of tourism, Pamukkale and Hierapolis together were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Hierapolis is home to a large amphitheater, perfectly visible from the hot air balloon rides that we offer year round.

Geography of Pamukkale

The famous snow white pools and terraces of Pamukkale Turkey were formed by the calcium deposits and thermal water which, when combined, create a sedimentary rock known as travertine. The area is home to over 15 hot springs that range in size and temperature. From a balloon ride here, you will be able to see it all!
